FMC Background
Why Are We Building A Family Ministry Center?
For nearly two decades, Youth Ministries operated out of a house that once was home to our founding pastor and family. Using the house as a ministry center was a temporary arrangement under an agreement with the City of Woodbury until more suitable facilities could be built. Currently, the youth ministry house is falling into disrepair and limits the effectiveness of ministry to youth. The NLC family was presented with options for a new multi-purpose addition to accommodate both Youth Ministries and Family Ministries. The response was significant: Over $1.9 million was given or pledged, enough to move forward with plans to construct a 14,500 sq. ft. addition to the northwest corner of our church facilities.
Progress toward the construction of our Family Ministry Center:
The project has received approval by the Woodbury City Council. Water utilities were moved in August 2010, The goal is to begin construction of the building in earnest when 70% of the funds needed are raised in cash. We also need to begin construction during the summer months when the Academy is not in session. Design of the coffee shop and other key features has progressed, and a value engineering exercise completed. Most construction documents are completed.
If you have an questions, comments or feedback on the drawings, plans or finances, please email Dave Seehusen at daveseehusen@newlife4u.org.
We are excited about these new plans and what God is going to do through this new part of our building. We hope you are too!
